ÖZ ER-KA Construction - Viranşehir 2nd Section Pumped Irrigation GRP Pipeline Lamination
Under the responsibility of DSİ Regional Directorate, 79 thousand 800 decares of land will be watered in the 2nd Stage of Viranşehir Pumped Irrigation. Since 2015, the project, which has changed many contractors since 2015, has encountered problems and leaks at the junction points of GRP pipelines near the completion of the project.
Before
- It was understood from the horizontal and vertical deflection measurements made in the pipe that the backfill material was not sufficiently compacted during backfilling. Deflection up to 8% was measured in the pipeline. Backfill material selection was not made correctly and the selected material does not comply with AWWA M45 criteria.
- In the examinations made, it was determined that the EPDM Gasket was reversed at many points.
- In GRP Pipeline, angular deviations above the limit were observed at the joints.
After each hydrostatic test, 30% of the EPDM seals leaked.
- The test of the line cannot be completed because the flanges approaching the line shut-off valves are missing.

After
750 pieces of DN3000mm PN16 GRP Pipe joints are wrapped by hand lay-up method from inside.
- Defects and deficiencies in the pipeline were repaired.
After these procedures, the pipeline successfully
passed the hydrostatic test.- The project was commissioned shortly after we completed our repair works.
DN3000mm Flange was produced and the connections of the line were completed.
